IT Support Engineer

TekDoc Solutions – a fast-growing IT services provider with an exciting work environment – is expanding its engineering team. Specifically, we’re looking for an IT Support Engineer, who’s interested in learning new skills, tackling a variety of technology-related challenges, and partnering with a diverse client base. Our company provides managed IT services to small and medium-sized businesses in the Greater Boston area.
The IT Support Engineer is a remote position based in a home office. Ability to occasionally travel to customer sites in the greater Boston area is preferred but not required.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to customers via phone, email, and remote connection
- Log and document details of each support request into ticketing system
- Troubleshoot workstations, peripherals, printers, mobile devices, and business applications
- Troubleshoot servers, network devices, connectivity issues, email systems, and spam filters
- Provision and manage user accounts in Active Directory, Office 365, and other applications
- Perform setup of desktops, laptops, printers, and other computing hardware
- Perform application installation, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, access points, and VPNs
- Manage data backup solutions and perform file restores
- Create and maintain documentation related to client’s IT configuration
- Assist with IT project activities
- Work outside of normal business hours as required, and participate in off hours on-call rotation
- Work with external vendors and service providers as required
Skills and Professional Experience:
- 2+ years of experience working in an IT support or help desk role
- Experience providing support to end users in Windows and Mac environments
- Experience with workstation OS installation, setup, deployment, and troubleshooting
- Experience supporting users remotely over the phone and using screen sharing software
- Experience with Office 365, and Office suite applications
- Experience supporting cloud-based applications and solutions
- Understanding of IP networking, switching, wireless, and VPN concepts
- Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, email, and spam filtering
- Understanding of Windows Server operating systems and virtualization
- Strong customer service skills and experience interacting directly with customers
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Previous MSP work experience preferred
- Experience with Autotask, Datto, Webroot, IT Glue, Egnyte, Barracuda, Azure, or SonicWall a plus

Senior Systems Engineer

TekDoc Solutions is seeking a talented Senior Systems Engineer to join our projects team. This is a hands-on technical position working on IT project activities across multiple customer environments. The role includes evaluating and designing IT infrastructure, and project work with servers, networking, email, cloud services, file storage, and identity management. The Senior Systems Engineer also serves as an escalation point for the Help Desk Team to assist with troubleshooting complex technical problems. The right candidate will be self-directed, comfortable communicating directly with customers, and have hands-on IT project experience. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a passion for IT and is excited to learn new technologies.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Create project plans, schedules, and roadmaps for IT infrastructure projects
- Perform IT project work related to servers, networking, email, cloud services, file storage, and identity management
- Maintain excellent communication with internal team members and customers during all project phases
- Develop standard operating procedures related to IT infrastructure deployments, upgrades, system migrations, and maintenance
- Create and maintain system documentation, network diagrams, and how-to documents
- Resolve technical escalations from the Help Desk Team
- Perform security assessments to ensure IT infrastructure conforms with security standards and security best practices
- Create and periodically test disaster recovery plans
- Work outside of normal business hours as required, and participate in off hours on-call rotation
- Research, review, and implement technical tools and solutions
- Work with external vendors and service providers as required
Skills and Professional Experience:
- 2+ years of IT project experience as a Systems Engineer or equivalent role
- Experience deploying and upgrading server and network infrastructure
- Solid understanding of IP networking concepts including routing, firewalls, switches, wireless networking, and VPNs
- Solid understanding of cloud concepts including domain registration, DNS, SSL certificates, email flow, spam filtering, and Microsoft Exchange
- Experience with Active Directory, AzureAD, Intune, and Group Policy
- Experience with Office 365 and Azure Cloud Services
- Experience with Windows 10 and Windows Server operating systems
- Experience with VMware, and Hyper-V server virtualization technology
- Experience managing file-level and image-level backup solutions
- Experience performing system administration and troubleshooting tasks remotely
- Strong customer service skills and experience interacting directly with customers
- Previous MSP work experience preferred
